Another MaxxFan in the Bathroom Post

I wish GD had just gone ahead and done a MaxxFan in the bathroom, too. I've seen a few other brands that have them installed in the kitchen and bathroom, seems like a small enough thing and really wouldn't do much to upset price points. Anyway, about a 3-4 hour project with most of the time spent carefully removing the original fan. What a difference, smoked rain lid/cover, 10-speed, reverse capability, etc. This install was well worth the aching back (bad discs L2-3 and L5-S1), also ... knee pads helped immensely.

Looks good. My Momentum had Max Air fans in kitchen and bathroom, it was nice. My Reflection only has one in kitchen, at some point I will be changing the bathroom and bunkhouse fans to a Max Air.

Yes, that is a petty annoyance. I wanted to have a fan added by the factory (since they already install one in the main living area), but no go. Sort of short sighted on GD's part. So I had the dealer install it (along with cover's for both). Hated that they had to undo the factor fan installation and seal, but would not be without one in the bathroom.

So, to totally conform to RVIA standards, "Maxx" type fans are not permitted in the bathrooms .

If the fan is running and you flush the toilet, it will pull the fumes out of the black tank.

Aftermarket, it is what it is.

Does that mean my Momentum wasnt built to RVIA standards? It was a 2017, and came from the factory with a Max Air fan in the main bathroom. We factory ordered the trailer, so I know the dealer didnt put it on.

Tom, thanks for the info. Never understood why there were not "maxx" type fans in the bathrooms. Given the complete lack of seal around most bathroom doors, never seemed like a big issue to me. But I can see of someone "sealed" around their bathroom door, the only place to get the air from would be thru the black tank vent and into the black tank.

I installed one recently in my GD 5th wheel and also installed one in my parent's class B bedroom. Both work great and pull much more air (either from inside or outside) and are quieter than the OEM tiny fans.

It was, but standards have changed also. You should have a black and silver seal outside your door with an RVIA number on it.
