securing power cord onto powerbox
I was just curious if anyone has run into the problem of keeping the power cord secured into a power box while at an rv site? We have a 50 amp cord and when we arrived at the park we were told that they did not have any open sites with 50 amp service but they had several 30 amp sites. I said it was fine because I have an adapter and it wouldn't be a problem. What I noticed right away is that the weight of the power cord with the adapter would not keep the plug secured in the box and the weight kept puling the plug down from the outlet. I was curious if anyone has run into this problem and what they have done to keep the plug snugly and secured into the outlet so that it doesn't pull out? I have tried to wrap the cord around the box which somewhat worked. Is there a device made for this or have people just fabricated something to remedy this? I appreciate any input.

I just loop the power cord over the power post when that happens. It isn't fancy but removes a lot of stress from the plug connection.

I run a ratchet strap around the plug and power pedestal, doesn't have to be too tight to keep it plugged in and support the weight. It also helps support the fairly heavy surge protector. Every truck owner must have ratchet straps!

Now that's an idea that I never thought of, thank Txfivver! I've tried wrapping the cord as traveldawg suggested, but I could never get it right. It was our first time out with a 50 amp cord and I didnt realize how heavy those things are. Never had that problem with our old 30 amp corded trailer, so this is all new to me lol.

Do they make 30 amp cords for all grand design trailers? My 150 Reflection has the 50 amp cord that is detachable but not sure if they make a 30 amp cord that has an end that will connect to the 50 amp port on the trailer

Yes they do, here’s the one I have: https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Power-Co...OR36SBOEM.html.

I use one similar to this with a 30 amp extension cable:

The actual one I use has a 90 degree female plug that connects to the trailer.
I camp a lot of places that only have 30 amp sites. It is so much easier to roll up the 30 amp cable when it's time to leave.2020 Reflection 273MK
