Air leaks from Furnace
Anyone else notice that alot of hot air comes out of the furnace between the furnace and the plenum? I was doing some wiring (watchdog install) with the furnace on and could not even hold my hands to figure out where the air leeks exactly are it is so hot. No wonder it's so hot at the nautalis panel and no wonder the non-pex water lines start leaking. Anyone see an issue with sealing them up with alumium tape? Will get some picutures today as I start changing out water lines to pex......

I sealed mine, but I have to wonder if you are having a flow restriction somewhere to cause the area to get hotter than it should.

I ended up sealing the seams and duct connection areas on ours after having the same issue you are experiencing. There was a lot of hot air escaping and causing the area above to get pretty hot. Use a good quality aluminum tape. One thing I did was instead of dealing with hot air was to start the furnace, just as it lites, turn off furnace and it will run for a couple of minutes. Rinse and repeat as needed until done.
