    Money Pit on Wheels!!

Newbie here. Have had our rig since End of Nov but JUST got the brake controller installed on my Ram so we have yet to take it out of my driveway. Getting prepped for trip to Ft Wilderness in a few weeks. Wife is loving doing the decorating and “situating”.

I can’t get over all the extras I continue to have to buy for this thing. Probably $100 in Command Hooks alone.

I think Tom Hanks and Shelly long should film “Money Pit 2: The RV Years”.

Still loving the idea and can’t wait to take our first trip. Thanks for all the great tips and advice.

    Stay safe!!

Stop reading this forum or the costs of upgrades and enhancements are going to soar FAR beyond what you expected.

    Happy trails.

Ha. My wife is saying the same thing. I actually think I have been pretty rational. Here’s a list of stuff I bought. Anyone think I overdid it? What was dumb, what did I miss?

    Sidewinder sewer hose support
Camco dual flush for sewer hose
    “Y” connector for water hookup
    Pressure regulator
90 degree elbow for water connection
    Water filters
    Tire inflator
    Plastic leveling blocks
    New shower head
    New toilet seat
Tension shower rod (don’t like retractable screen)
    Laser thermometer
    Big ****** surge protector
    15A to 30A dog bone
    Lashing straps
    Wheel covers
    Fuses
    Reusable zip ties
    Toilet swivel stick
    Tire inflator
    Scissor wheel chocks
    Heavy rubber chocks
    TPMS pending final choice

And oh yeah, a 2021 Ram 1500!! LOL

    Thanks!

Don't think of it as a money pit. Think of it as an investment!

We bought is with the plan to go full-time in about 18 months, do, we have put about $2K from Amazon, Lowe's, and Home Depot; $3.5K for disc brakes; eventually solar (probably $8-$13.5K)...

It'll be out home for several years, so we are treating it as such.

Look at it as your summer vacation home! You would have to do some personalization of a sticks-and-bricks summer home, so... Same thing! [emoji16]

TPMS; TPMS; TPMS get yourself one if you haven't already. You never know when camper tire is going down or blows until it is to late and your have serious damage to your camper. I have TireTraker system with lifetime warranty and have had to replace 2 tire sensors at no charge over the last few years. There are several good TPMS systems out there and a lot of bad ones also.

Well, you probably could have gotten by without the second tire inflator....Unless you are a Belt, Suspenders, and a Rope kind of guy.

You lost me at "my wife..." never tell the wife how much it costs! Happy wife, happy life. All of the "investment" cost is a rounding error, unless she is a legit accountant. All I know is I lost way too much in the deal, but we are all very happy. How can you put a price on that. Ha ha ha ha. [emoji6]

Where's the pellet and solo stove. Lol
Most of what was mentioned is transferable to your next rig, as long as you keep RVing, its an investment. Then there's solar, a whole new ball game.
