50A Socket Cover Won't Stay Closed

I have searched both forums and cannot find a discussion on this. I have the 50 AMP socket/receptacle ON THE TRAILER and the cover will not stay closed. It tab on the socket frame and the indent on the cover, it clicks when pushed on and then right away pops open. I passed an Imagine on the way home yesterday and his shore power receptacle cover was open as well. Has anyone encountered this and developed a solution? Other than forget about it.

Ok, this is a new one for me. I would tend to look at the weather seal gasket around the circle part to ensure that is properly in place and does not have any bumps in it.

If that is not apparent I would look under the hinge to see is there is any debris.

If that didn't work I take a time out because I would be really frustrated and tend to do something I would regret later.

Then I would look at the latching mechanism and see if there was some way to RV engineer a latch pin.

Let us know what you find. Please!

Ours hasn't stayed closed since the first day I brought it home. I've tried a couple times, but just gave up. It's in storage for another month, so that should give you lots of time to figure out the problem and then I'll know how to fix mine.

    good luck
