swapping out the elevator TV from 2670MK

Wondering if anyone has removed and replaced the stock TCL (Non-Smart) TV with a smart tv. We're looking at swapping with a 43" Samsung TV. I know I will need to slightly modify the counter hole. But I'm wondering how other have removed the old tv?

It looks like the easiest way would be to loosen one screw on each side which appears to be something of a hinge point, that the TV w/mount attaches to the elevator. Unfortunate some Moose at initial install stripped out the heads of the fasteners. I can probably use an easy out to get the R/H fastener out, but the L/H side is next to the wall and will be bit more difficult to get out or even loosen.

Has anyone done this upgrade? What did you do and how did you do it?

    Thanks!

I've removed it and put it back to do some wiring and you are right it sort of hangs from the screws on each side and it slides up if I recall correctly.

If you look close at the photo of the lower rear right hand screw on the mount you can see that just loosening the screws will allow the TV to lift up and off the televator. At least on my rig. All you need to do is loosen them. they don't have to be removed.

You probably want to use 2 people. One can lift the TV but it is easier with 2 people. Once lifted off the one person can place it face down on the counter while the other person disconnects the wires.

Put the removed mount from the old TV on the new TV and reinstall.

You'll want to take some measurements of where the mount is on the old TV so you can replace the mount on the new TV in the same location (distance from top and bottom of the TV).

    Hope some of this helps....

    Televator

    Thanks Traveldawg!

Thats what I was thinking!! My problem has been loosening the two screws. They look like an Allen head, but I can't find a key that fits it correctly, all I have are either too small or too large??

I'm getting ready to remove the TLC tv.

    What size are the screws?
    It's between a T15 and a T20. It's not an allen. Metric or standard.

    Thanks, KEN

I believe that the screws on the side of the telavator were T20's before they were over torque.
I finally used a chisel to tap the screws loose.

The Samsung Smart TV is now installed in our 374TH-R.
One more thing to check off the list as we prepare to go full time.

On my Televator they used some funky screw heads that were an eight pointed star pattern. This turns out to be two square Robertson drives turned at 45 degree angles to each other. All you need is a square drive Robertson bit and you are home free.

Trust me, I spent a lot of time trying to find that "Double Star" bit, I found some, but at a price that was way, way, too much for a simple bit.

    Ya
I tried the Robertson bit. It fit, but very loose. The installer stripped all 4 of them. KEN

It could be either a torx plus 15: https://apexbits.com/49-15IPX-Apex-1...rive-Bits.aspx

    Or, a Torx 17: https://www.walmart.com/ip/K-Tool-In...t-ea/586996810

Why? Just to make our lives that much more complicated, lol.
