    Does anyone use water softener in their RV?

    Just curious if anyone uses a water softener in their RV.
    We have really hard well water at our camping spot and looking for recommendations

    We use one, we picked it up at a GD rally. It has a pre filter http://www.gnlrvspecialties.com/ , we have their smaller unit.
    Many have the On The Go softener from amazon

    We have the On The Go Double, with a Camco filter before it. We love it, but it's a double edge sword (excuse the pun). The water is wonderfully soft, but when we're boondocking we tend to use more water in the shower from the water being so soft.

    How do you decide if you need to use the water softener system?

    I live in Western Oregon and the water comes from the local (very clean river) to the water treatment plant to the pipes. The water tastes better then bottled water (which has no taste).
    Backpacker and tent camper all my life, including BSA as a kid and adult.
    Motorcycle trips across the USA with a tent - 1978 to Present.
    02-10-2005 - 2002 F350 SWD PSD and 2003 Citation 10'8S mostly for Crater Lake Ski Patrol.
    10-29-2015 - 2016 Grand Design 380TH. It's HUGE compared to a camper.
    10-19-2018 - traded truck for a 2016 Ram 3500 DRW Laramie CC 4 X 4 Long Box.

    Wouldn't leave home without our OTG 16,000.
    On a side note, we have to recharge it with table salt after about 6 weeks, it doesn't last 8 weeks anymore like it did when it was new.

    I decide by how my hair feels, hard water makes my hair corse and frizzy , also the reddish stains the water leaves around the drain in the sinks

    I have the larger model from the website listed. It works very well and recharging is easy.
