    Imagine 2950RL 2nd AC prep

I have a quick question. Does the Imagine 2950RL 2nd AC prep ducted or non ducted? I know that in the Relection and Solitude lines they have race track ducting and the 2nd unit is able to be ducted. But I cannot find anything on whether the 2nd AC unit in the Imagine line is able to be ducted.

Yeah, that's interesting. The specs show the main A/C is ducted but then it states the standard is 30 amp (eliminating the ability to have 2 A/C units) but also it says 50 amp for select units, what ever that means. Elsewhere it says they are framed and wired for a second A/C.

I think the thing to do would be to call Grand Design directly and speak to someone there to endure which models come how.

So I went ahead and installed a 2nd AC unit on my Imagine 2950RL, I ran into some issues. GD told me on the phone that the 2nd AC prep did not include duct or themostat wire prep. Which means it was prepped for non-ducted thermostatic control ceiling assembly. We removed the vent assembly and cleaned the sealent off, as well as mounted the AC unit. The issue came into play when we tried to install the non-ducted ceiling assembly. There is ceiling vent coming off the duct work in the bedroom which is in the way of mounting the ceiling assembly for the 2nd AC. I had no choice but to mount a quick cool assembly because the quick cool cover is signicantly smaller in dimensions. I also mounted a thermostat on the wall above the light switch but had to run my own thermostat wire, there was also no DC prep to power the thermostat, so I put a AC to DC converter in coming off the 110 feed to the unit. This setup will work, but would be nicer to have a non-ducted ceiling assembly so the output is not blowing directly down on the bed but out the sides. I'm curious if you have any suggestions. I know you can buy the 2950 with the 2nd AC already installed, I'm a bit puzzeled on how the factory installs the non-ducted ceiling assembly and does not cover up half the existing ceiling vent?

I know this is a really old thread, but just hoping someone else has done what I want to do. I also have the 2950RL 2017 model, and I do already have the 2nd a/c in the bedroom, but like everyone says it is so noisy you could never sleep with it on, and you would freeze! I would love to take down the ceiling panel and duct the a/c into the existing bedroom vent that is right beside the a/c shroud, that way I could duct the air into the rest of the coach. Sort of give the other a/c a break, and it would be much quieter when you are watching TV in the living area. I could still just run it off the ceiling controls, not off a thermostat, again because it would be to noisy to sleep under. I was also wondering if the 2017 2950 has the racetrack ducting system? Anybody ever do this, or can it be done?
