Would we encounter this if we are coming from WI?

Is there any particular spot with full hookups you would recommend there?

Needles Highway is a scenic route that takes you to the Sylvan Lake area. There is no reason to take this beautiful route other than the scenery.

We stayed several days at Custer's Gulch last fall. Nice park.

The tunnels are SW of Rapid City and in the Custer State Park area. They are pretty well marked before you get started on them. When you make your reservation just ask the folks what the best route to get there is. It's a common question for them.

Mt. Rushmore is a popular destination as a result all of the RV parks we visited were pretty decent. Full hookups, decent sized sites. Some had more amenities and nicer scenery. We got to stay at a private campground while working at the non-profit bookstore in Mt. Rushmore. We stayed at Ft. Welikit (we like it) in Custer. A bit rustic for some folks but suited us.

There are lots and lots to choose from.
