50 amp surge protector to 30 amp
Question is I have a 50amp surge protector and my new trailer is 30amp. Should I plug the surge protector into the 50 pedestal plug or reduce it to 30 amp with a dogbone and plug it into the 30 plug? Obviously I will reduce it with a dogbone on the exit end. I just didn’t want to have 2 dogbones . Thxs

I’ve already researched using a 50 amp surge protector on a 30amp line and there is no problem doing so. I guess I’ll double dogbone up and plug into the 30amp

Plug the 50 amp surge protector into the 50 amp plug, then adapt it down to 30. The adapter will take care of getting the 2 legs to 1 30 amp.
That is how it works with or without the surge protector. The adapter doesn't know the difference.Steve- Inventory Manager at Tom Schaeffer's RV, Shoemakersville, PA www.tomschaeffers.com

One has to wonder why you have a 50amp surge protector for a 30 amp RV, not that it matters, it will work just fine.
As you thought 50amp surge protector into 50amp receptacle on the power pedestal, then reduce 50amp to 30 amp to meet your power cord. If you have a 50amp power cord, then reduce it down at the entry into the RV.
