Advice please: Freezing Temps and No Hot Water

Seeking advice. We are currently camping in cold weather in our Reflection 315RLTS. Woke up to no water from the hot faucet/line...the cold line works fine, but no water at all is coming from the hot line (kitchen sink or bathroom)

Overnight low was 21F, currently climbing to a high of 35 today. It's been sub-freezing for about 10 hours now. We are at a site with full hookups. Thought we did everything right to prepare. We filled our fresh water tank yesterday and disconnected from the city water. Set the Natulus to DRY camping and turned on the water pump. We ran both the electric fireplace and the furnace overnight to keep the inside temperature at around 65 degrees. I know that the furnace cycled on multiple times throughout the night.

We checked the water heater release valve and it's full of very hot water. Does that indicate that the issue is somewhere in the line? Any advice for how to troubleshoot?

    Thank you!

There are several threads on this if you use the search function. There may be more useful information in those, too.

It may be the low-point drain(s) where they stick out from under the Coroplast (red and blue Pex with caps on them). You could try a hair dryer or heat gun on them and see if it can get things unfrozen. I carry a cheap styrofoam outdoor faucet protector for very cold weather - wrap an old rag around the drains and attach the insulated protector.

UPDATE: issue seems to have fixed itself. Suspect that the heat from sunlight thawed whatever was frozen. We are taking preventative measures to insulate the low point drains tonight and will rely more on furnace vs. electric heat to hopefully avoid a repeat.

Oh, yeah - it's imperative that you use the furnace rather than the fireplace or a portable heater when the temps are below freezing. The furnace is the only thing that keeps the basement thawed.

Also leave kitchen cabinets (under sink) open and in bathroom.

Thanks. Used both heat sources in attempt to conserve propane, setting the fireplace low enough that the furnace would cycle every hour or so...but will go 100% propane tonight. First time camping in sub-freezing temps - lesson learned!

One thing you can do is put an incandescent bulb in the basement storage to generate heat. I have wired in a ceiling socket with a 150W bulb behind the buikhead that i can turn on remotely when plunging Temps dictate. This way you can still minimize propane consumption when shorepower is available.

This will help the main basement area - but won't help the water lines to the kitchen island in that floorplan.

Fair point - I did not check the floorplan relative to my answer. If I were doing a lot of cold weather camping in that unit with shorepower, I'd consider adding electrical warming to them.
