Lighting for outside kitchen Imagine 2670MK

Now that we’ve got our RV parked at the house instead of the storage lot, I’m starting to work my way through my project list.

The awning light is useless for the outside kitchen on our Imagine 2670MK as the slide blocks the light from more than half the awning’s length. I had some LED strip lights left over from another project so decided to try to get some better light on the subject.

This was easier with the micro fridge removed. It is held in place with two screws.

The back side of the opening had about a 2-1/4” recess that was a bit too deep to attach the strip light to. The solution was a 23”x1-5/8”x3/4” piece of Ash wood, left over from the same project as the strip lights. Two coats of wipe-on poly for protection. It was a tight fit as my “test fit” became permanent. I tried to get it back out but couldn’t. I was going to glue it in, but ended up just putting a screw in at the top and bottom to keep it wedged in place.

The strip light has an adhesive backing. Knowing the kind of heat this compartment will be subjected to, I also used little plastic clips every 4” or so that screw in place over the light strip. They are made just for this application.

Completed. The strip light was either 10 or 16 feet long. Just cut to length.

Completed. These lights are on a dimmer. The on-off-dimmer switch is stuck bottom front and center of the refrigerator with double-sided tape

    Lighted.

The power supply is stuck to the side of the enclosure to the left of the refrigerator, also with double sided tape. The outlet that the refrigerator plugs into looks like a double outlet from the front, but there is actually only one outlet. I plugged a power strip into that and plugged both the refrigerator and light power supply into it. Power strip stuck down behind the refrigerator, again with double sided tape.

We’ll test drive this thing in a couple of weeks.
