    TT weights related to WDH

My brother is looking into buying a TT and I'm trying to figure out the weights.
I'm not familiar how the WDH when it comes to determining weights that would show on the vehicle.

For all you experts out there does the WDH change the weight that shows on your vehicle?
For example if the trailer indicates 500lbs hitch weight does the WDH reduce that amount so not as much weight is on the vehicle?
If so how much does it reduce it?

    Thanks.

Hitch weight never changes. It just distributes it to the front axle and trailer axles

Also keep in mind listed trailer weights are not even close to what they will be loaded to camp

Since it distributes the weight, if the trailer has a hitch weight of 500lbs with a WDH does that mean only some of the 500lbs is carried on the actual car's hitch like maybe 400lbs.
The other 100lbs would be put back on the the trailer axles and some of the front axles.

If that is the case is there a way of knowing how much would be reduced on the car's hitch.

No idea. Why the concern about the hitch weight?

    Need more information

For the purposes of maximum hitch weight, no it does not. The hitch is still carrying the load. It can change the amount of weight on individual axles. This will vary depending on each individual setup and adjustment.

This may not be the case, but if you are trying to make a tow vehicle work that is borderline, stop. The published hitch weight is less than it will actually be. Do your math from the GVW of the trailer with 12-15% on the hitch. I see you are already in the 350 club so like I said, this may not be what you are trying to do.

The hitch weight of the TT is close to the max hitch weight of the car.
My brother really likes this camper and I trying to see if with WDH it would work for him.
I'm guessing even if it reduces the weight on the car's hitch it would not be enough to be in specs.

If the published weight is 500 it will be 800 when it is loaded to camp

What is the “car” and what trailer?

To help understand what a properly setup WDH can do, here is a nice article from Mark Polk:

If you don’t feel like reading the entire article scroll down to:
“Trailer Weights, Tongue Weight & Weight Distribution Hitches“

It will help you visualize how a WDH works.

Thank you for the article that was very helpful.

From everybody's input and reading the article the trailer he is looking at will be to much for the car.
