Reflection 367BHS, Leaky Grey Water Gate

Anyone else have a leaky grey water gate? I haven't narrowed it down to the front or rear tank yet but plan on looking into it soon. When I pull the dump cap off, I get a short blast of water; thankfully, it's not black water. We've only had our trailer out four or five times since we bought it in Aug.

Anyone else have a leaky gate valve from the factory? Any advice on where they are or how to get to them would be super. I haven't dove into looking to find them yet.

I figured if they were too hard to get to, I'd just put an additional valve behind the dump cap. I hate to, but there isn't a way to remove the cap without getting a bath. It's something I need to fix over the winter. Dealer is two hours away so I'd rather just figure it out and fix it than haul it two hours to leave it for weeks. I'm not into that dealer service debacle.

Thanks for any advice that can save me some time when I dive into it.

Many of us have added a valterra valve on the outlet. Suspect that what you are, getting is a result of to shallow a run on the drain pipe. Very common problem and cheapest fix is the added valve

Thanks for your comment. Can you tell me what you mean by "shallow run?"

I second what @tortise mentioned above. I have a Valterra valve on my dump end. I elected for a fixed valve verses the twist on style.
The fixed valve was more flush to the rig. Just my personal preference.

The drain piping has to run down hill to the outlet naturally. Here it is quite flat. Also the coach is rarely perfectly level especially at a dump, station. And any residual fluid will, slosh around going down the road. If you had a bad tank valve, obstruction or something the volume would be significant.

Agreed. I'll probably go with fixed and try to tuck it under the rig if I do. The bayonet is a great idea with 5 second install....but could also be stolen in less than 5 seconds as well. I'm going to try to eliminate the low point drains as some other stuff to clean up the bottom of the trailer. I see Amazon has tons of options. I might even go to the local RV store and spend some cash with him just because. He might have something I can use.

Gotcha. Thanks for that. I understand what you are saying now. Maybe the front was up when I dumped then I moved. Onboard now.

Maybe we should change the title of the thread to "avid camper pulls rookie stunt and got a bath". LOL

Not the first one to have the issue, design could, improve. Don’t recall the problem on my previous trailers though. I did once go,to,dump on my shakedown trip only to,discover that the tank valves were open the whole time. Now that qualifies as a rookie mistake!

Most of us have been there at one time or another. For me, it was on one my first camper. Since then, all of my campers have gotten a Valterra valve put on before I take it out the first time.
