Refrigerator door reversal - lessons learned?

Hello everyone. I am a new owner of a 2021 Imagine 2670MK - purchased Thursday, took 'er out this past weekend. After our first use, both my wife and I think the right side hinge on the Dometic DM2882 fridge is a little awkward considering the rear left placement of the refrigerator on the floor plan. I have researched and discovered that I can reverse the hinge and feel comfortable doing that but I am curious if anyone else with this same model has done this and regretted it? I know I can just switch it back but if anyone has some experience with this floorplan and issue I'd like to get some input. Thanks.

    Robert

Welcome to the forum! Sorry can't add any input but If you look in your packet with all your documents and little spare appliance parts there mighht be the reverse hinges for the door in it.

After looking at your floor plan, will the door hit the island?

We are looking at this in our 245RL Transcend as well. we have the 12v only unit model and when we were out this last weekend I looked it over and it looks as though all of the parts are universal except one piece on the fridge handle that doesn't seem to affect function just finish. may make the switch next trip.

Brian -- do you know the make and model of the GD supplied 12V Fridge? Curious about AMPS/WATTS for idle and compressor "on." TIA

Thanks for the reply. Fortunately, all the parts are reversible either by rotation or mirroring so no extra parts are needed. There is about 8 to 10 inches clearance from the island. As is, if one is getting into the refrigerator they must stand in front of the stove, if someone else happens to be cooking at the stove they have to move. Both my wife and I love to cook, that is one of the many reasons this floorplan was so appealing to us (lots of counter space). I will be making this switch soon, I can't see any reason not to give it a try since I don't have to purchase any different parts.

The picture on GD’s site shows a left side hinge. I think either way is going to be a little awkward. Left side favors access by someone other than the stove user while right side favors access by the stove user. My thought is left side hinges may restrict full opening of the door.

Robert, did you ever flip your door hinges to the other side?
