    Imagine 2500RL Weight

We’ve just ordered an Imagine 2500RL - we’ll be updating our tow vehicle as well, so I’m wondering about weight.

Does anyone know what the true unloaded weight is? I know that the specs are UVW: 5,857 lbs | GVWR: 7,495 lbs but sometimes manufactures put the dry weight without appliances included.

I’m also wondering what people are finding the typical weight is with the trailer loaded but water/holding tanks empty.

    Thanks!

No disrespect but why would it matter?

Some people bring bread makers and bags of flour to make bread while camping
Some use plastic plates and cups. Others bring half a tool box
The number could be anything but the number important is the 7495 limit because of the tires and axles

Unloaded weight doesn't matter - GVWR and 12% of that for estimated loaded tongue weight is what matters. Get the proper numbers for the trailer and any tow vehicle you're considering and plug them in here:

    http://changingears.com/rv-sec-calc-...eight-tt.shtml

You'll hit the payload limit on most tow vehicles before you reach the max tow ratings.

EDIT: here is another good resource:

You said you are updating your tow vehicle is this why you are asking?

My half ton Sierra could easily tow this trailer across the country but mine has lots of payload

If you like sunroofs and nice things in a truck the payload can quickly be reduced to 1000 lbs which isn’t enough

Most on here will tell you anything less than a 3/4 ton you will be risking your life and everyone around you My take on that is if you are trading tow vehicles sure look at a 3/4 ton but it isn’t necessary imo

Thanks for the comments. I’m considering a VW Touareg which has 7700 lb tow capacity, GVWR is 6305 lbs, GCWR is 14,021 lbs and payload is 1239lbs. And max tongue weight 770 lbs.

I would not want to max it out which is why I’d like to know what the true unloaded tends to be. Like, what the trailer weighs at the dealer.

No way would a Touareg tow this

Hitch weight will be 900-1100 lbs

Interesting... The specs are 581 lbs hitch weight, I understand adding propane tanks and batteries, but what would bring it to 900-1100 pounds?

Propane tank and battery brings it up to almost 700

The hitch will be 75 pounds

I am sure you were going to bring stuff to camp with

You will be at 900 easily

As @NB Canada - and many others - will tell you, the loaded tongue weight will be about 12% of the GVWR. If you load the trailer to its capacity, that would be 899 lbs. Have you plugged all the numbers into the calculator I gave you a link to in my response in #3 above?
