    Now the dryer has quit.

We have the Ariston stackable washer/dryer. The dryer is totally dead. Reading the schematic I call the door switch/lock is not working. Getting the dryer out requires removing the closet door and one side of the door frame trim. Then there’s the vent. Ugh!

I need to find an able bodied assistant. Anyone else have any washer/dryer issues?

I have not work on an Ariston Combo. Most newer appliances are front serviceable.
    First
    Check the circuit breaker.
Does any of the lights light up?

    Hi Sparky,
As @orbiker mentioned, are you sure that you have power going to the dryer. Our washer and dryer each have it's own power strip and one managed to get turned off once. Second, I don't know your complete situation, but the dryer is most defiantly the lighter of the two.

Does it make any noise when you push the start switch?

What kind of door switch? Button, lever or lock?

No sound at all. Usually after the door is shut and hit the start button you can hear the lock solenoid engage. My suspicion is the door switch which houses the latch and solenoid.

It could be the door switch. It could be a burnt wire somewhere too. The only way to know, is tear it apart.

If you don't feel confident, call an appliance tech that knows about that product.

I have no problem taking on the repair it’s just getting dryer out of the closet and finding parts.

Find a service manual on line. I'm pretty sure the dryer is front service. Turn off the breaker and dig in.

If it was a WP, Speed Queen or Maytag I could tell you how. Usually 2 screws down lower and the front comes off.

I found a manual. The top has to come off to get to the right side panel. No access from the front. Just having to remove the closet door and part of the door trim to get it out plus undoing the vent is just a lot to take on but I need to do it. Once I have it out I have no problem getting to the cause and fixing it. Looking at the schematic is what makes me think that door switch is the issue or some wiring to it.
