    Towing a Transcend 260RB with a 2021 Silverado 1500

My wife and I are thinking about getting a Transcend 260RB and I just bought a 2021 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 liter engine. I don't want to have to replace my truck since it's brand new. Will my Silverado pull the 260RB safely? I am looking for opinions.

Loaded, the hitch weight on the 260RB will be about 960 lbs. (12% of the trailer's GVWR). Get the weight number's off your truck's door sticker and the info on the 260RB and plug them in here:

If it falls within the specs of your truck it could be fine but you are the one that needs to pull safely not the truck

I am sure it will be fine and within specs

Thanks Rob for the link to the calculator. I will plug in my info and see what I get. Thanks for your service btw. My daughter is a combat medic (68W). She's an RN and want's to go through OCS but the Army isn't looking for nurses right now. Her enlistment is up in September and since she can't get into OCS and become an Army nurse she isn't planning on re-enlisting which is disappointing because she really does like being in the Army.

Hmmm... if your daughter has a BSN, it should be a direct commission into the Nurse Corps without OCS (unless they've really changed things). I'm sorry to hear she is unable to progress in the Army as she would like.

Steve, Does your Silverado have the max towing package? That makes a huge difference in weights. I have a 260RB and i pull it with my 2019 Silverado with the max tow package. I just weighed it this weekend and my tongue weight is 880 lbs. The trailer weight is right at 6900 lbs. This is empty tanks but full of propane and loaded with all our gear. My Silverado is rated for 1120 lbs. tongue weight, 11,600 lbs. trailer weight and payload is 2016 lbs. The total combined weight on the scales was 12,500 lbs. I just wanted to give you some real world numbers.

Quite positive a GM without “max tow” would still be very capable to tow this trailer
    Well within specs

Of course a brake controller and a tranny cooler is a must

Without the Max tow it brings the numbers down to a lot narrower margin. Just wanted to make sure Steve knew for comparative purposes.

Just for thought. A 2021 Silverado without the max tow package with a 5.3 and 3.23 gear ratio can have a tongue weight rating of 930 lbs. Margin is a little lower with above weights and you add a little water in the tanks and you're over.
