We also have the Mopeka Tank Check system, but if you go with that, make sure you carry spare batteries, since they are good for a couple of months (the transmitter(s) are constantly on).

Well now you tell me (:
That is a nice feature on that regulator.

Doesn't the original model do this as well?

I guess I never noticed, since the cover is always on the tanks. Saw this on the one I just received....
the auto-changeover lp regulator allows you to hook up 2 propane tanks and the regulator automatically switches over to the second tank once the first one runs out (and vice versa). the indicator changes color to let you know when a tank has been depleted and needs to be refilled. the inlet is a 1/4

gotcha, the original regulator will automatically switch over to as long as the second tank is open. So for example, if the gas is on and the tank selector is pointing left but the indicator is red, that is telling you that the left tank is empty and it is now running off of the second tank. If you flip the lever to the second tank, the indicator should switch to green. (Sometimes it requires you to have something on to flow the gas to get it to register). You can safely remove the first tank and go get it filled without having to do anything. After it is filled, reinstall it and open the valve slowly. The regulator will now continue to run off of the second tank until it is empty and then it will automatically switch back to the first tank and the indicator will switch to red again letting you know the tank is empty. This cycle continues as long as the tanks have fuel in them....

Yes it does, but if you have a cover, you need to remove it to check it. With the one I use, you can open the top panel and see if the indicator reads red or green.

The other option is to cut a window in the front of the cover so you can see the indicator on the regulator you show.

The hole would not be too bad. One could get a piece of clear plastic, glue and pop-rivet it in place of the cutout to seal up the cover.

This is what I did for my old trailer. Kinda worked but can be difficult to see the regulator indicator without a flashlight. This won't work on our unit since I had to move the LP tanks forward about 2 inches so I could install a locking weatherproof box for our lithium batteries. That put the window right up next to the jack, making it unusable. The top indicator regulator solved our issues.

Sorry about the sideways view but each time I tried to adjust, it went back to this. Cut the hole, found a piece of plexiglass that would cover it. Used silicon to seal around edges and then pop riveted it into place. Has been there for probably 3 years.
