Question Crown CR-260 batterys Get 4 or 6?

OK folks I am in a corundum. I am outside the Crown dealer range and a factory rep has offered to ship either 4 or 6 6V Crown CR 260 batteries. I run a small hay business so maybe that why they can sell to me direct. Batteries are sub $150 each and shipping is $80.

Equivalent Deka GC45 batteries are $250 here and Trojan T 145 is close to $300. I am planning a battery bank of 4, but could go 6, or have 2 spares and keep them charged on the shelf just in case I have one go out.

    Thoughts?

Looking at the cost for those 6 volts, have you considered a SOK LiFePO4 battery? Under $600 for a 100 Amp hour 12V that you can use from 100% to 0% without destroying it. 2 Trojan T 145s weigh 144 lbs and have about 130 amp hours of usable capacity. The SOK weighs 30 lbs. and will last a minimum of 7 years and likely 10+ years without having to add water to it

206Amp/hr SOK batteries cost $1029 and weigh about 60 lbs. 4 Trojan T-145s would weigh 288 lbs ... and cost more ($1200)

Yes I have looked at the battle born or equivalent. However the Crown CR-260 are 260AH each so a bank of 4 in series parallel have 520AH with 260 usable - all for $600 give or take. More power and half the cost of the Trojan. They are also of quality equal to or better that the Trojan. Weight is not an issue in my case

If I change I need a new converter etc. My last bank of 4-6V were still good at 10 to 12 years of life.

    Thanks for your input

Agree about 6V being tough. I bought 2 6V AGM batteries for my prior 5th wheel on 2010 and they were still good when I sold it in 2018. You can use your existing charger/converter but it will take a long time to replenish your batteries - same with your 6 volts ...

Thanks, but the question remains at the great price do I get 4 or 6 of them?
