    Question Dish Home Temporary Hookup

Looks like we will be staying in the 5W for a while at home due to work on the house. I would like to temporarily move the set top box to the 5W and use it with the TV in there.
Has anyone done this and what are the hookups needed from the dish to the 5W and within the 5W?
    Thanks in advance.

Not much. You just need a coaxial cable to run between.

Sounds well and good, but which is the right place to hook it up from the dish?
    This is my best guess...

Yes. Then your Dish receiver inside with a coax whip between it an wall plate. Make sure you over the air antenna booster is turned off.

Okay, so I hooked everything up and it searched for signal forever. So I went straight from the dish junction to the tuner box and it worked normally.
Next I checked for continuity from the above 5W point to the plate inside the unit, with the booster turned off. There appeared to be continuity, so I scratched my head and tried again. I can play dvr recordings but can't tune into a live signal using the units connections, so it's basically a boat anchor...
I'm guessing the units wiring is sub par, maybe a loose connection somewhere?

Well, very notoriously across the industry the plates get mis-wired, and I'd check that first. Worst case, run the coax directly into your rig through the slide seal right to your tuner/Hopper. Do note you will need to run the reset algorithm.

The "booster" or amplifier is only in the coax line that goes to the over the air antenna. The coax runs for cable or satellite use do not have an amplifier in the circuit, and hence do not need to have a booster turned off. Your picture shows you are using the correct input fitting, but are you sure you are on the correct fitting inside the trailer?

I understand your continuity test, but still doesn't sound right.

    Thanks,
Anyone with a 260RD or similar have to chase down 'cable' connections yet?
Any clues on path and access points would be great...

I use Dish when traveling with a Winegard Pathway antenna. I couldn’t get the Grand Design coax to work reliably so I ended up running a new cable though a bulkhead coax connector connector in the slide out floor of my Reflection 337RLS. Then behind the fireplace into the cabinet above the TV. I placed the dish box in the cabinet.

I found the RV coax subpar. I bought some 50 ft Quad Shielded coax https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GBVYAZC/ to run from the antenna to the bulkhead connector and a shorter piece of Quad shielded coax inside from bulkhead to dish box. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0758GBZ92

The bulkhead connector was similar to this https://www.amazon.com/Furrion-FTVIN...dp/B017P8HASY/
