    Keith, I have used 3 different hydrometers in the last 5 years. All 3 were the type that looked like antifreeze testers with the squeeze bulb on one end, a clear plastic resevior with numbers in the middle and a black rubber tube on the other end. Two of these were from Amazon and they were ok but reading them was a little difficult because the printing was small. I forget to bring one on this last trip so I stopped in at a Napa store and got one of theirs. The Napa hydrometer was the best one so far, easy to read and it seems to be much more robust. Cost? About $8.00

    After looking at several "battery" websites I ordered one of these:

    It came yesterday and I think I'm really going to like it. As the name says it is very easy to see the readings.
