Valterra Twist on Valve for your Dump Tank

I use a Valterra T58 Twist on Valve for my dump tank at dump station. Once I get sewer hose elbow into dump station trap, I open gate valve. No more mess at dump station.

You'll find many of us use that valve. It not only protects you from getting wet when you go dump it also works as a great equalizer if you have 2 gray tanks.

Very true. We've been doing this for the last 4 years. Now we can both take 4-5 showers all week plus dishes and other washing and still not fill the equalized tanks. We dry camp at Michigan State Parks. My wife and I can go 15 days (using the park showers) and not have to use the "blue thing" at all!

They're useful... really should come as standard equipment on RVs.

I can see tank equalization benefits..but..
I've never had an issue on previous trailers without one of those. Is there something 'special' about the GD plumbing?

Some GD trailers tend to drain slowly and not completely; having a substantial amount of liquid waiting for you upon the next visit. My previous trailers didn't have this problem.

As @J Maguire wrote, one of the issues is incomplete draining of the dump pathway on some GD trailers.

We had a 2018 Reflection... no problem. On our 2018 Solitude the three tanks empty into a common manifold, which then drains out to the outlet. We can drain completely and close our tanks, but when we get to the next campsite we have cups or more of waste waiting for us at the outlet. It seems obvious that it gets trapped in the manifold and/or other parts of the outlet pathway and then gets shaken out of there while we travel on the road.

This is a somewhat-common problem, and adding the additional gate valve to the outlet lets afflicted owners control the sewage treat waiting at the outlet after they've traveled.

Besides what has already been said of the benefits of the Valterra valve, it can also be of help if you have a leaking or stuck open tank valve until you can address the problem.

Looked for one last fall, and few available and at extremely high prices. The one linked to from etrailer is on backorder, so no idea when it will really ship. Camping World, much as I dislike buying from them, does have in stock to ship. End price, with shipping, is about $2 cheaper than etrailer.

Did anyone have a problem with the Valtera valve being easy to come loose .
How does it help exactly with two grey ranks vs one?
