Jacksonville area, easy HW access for overnight?
Heading to Venice, FL area from Charlotte, NC in 6 weeks. Plan to stop for a night or two in Jacksonville area, but want easy access from interstate so not on the coast as we'll be heading west on I10 out of Jacksonville.
Recommendations?Colin & Tracy

Found this one just off the NW corner of the outerbelt so right on our route, but reviews are so-so.
For a one-nighter probably fine, but are there other options?

Unfortunately, The best campgrounds are on the coast. Ft Clinch/Hanna Park/North Beach Campground.
I have driven past the one you mentioned heading to S Georgia and it doesn't look that great from I95.
Personally, I haven't stayed there, and being from JAX, probably never will.
If you don't specifically need to be in the JAX area, and are only using it as a waypoint, you might consider stopping off in Brunswick, 45 minutes north of Jax.
Blythe Island is right off of I95 south 30 miles from the FL border. Its a very nice campground either for overnight, or spend a day or 2.
You are still on your route to I10 west to I75 south.
just a thought.
Have a safe trip!Last edited by Jdjaguar; 03-17-2021 at 08:43 PM.

Thank you!
A little north of the border is about the half-way point for us, so that works also. I'll check out Blythe Island. Agree on the link above, others look much better. There are a handful of Mom & Pop operations near the border that look promising - we might try out 2 different ones coming/going as this will be a regular route for us 1-2x a year to visit family.
This one looks nice enough, reviews are decent: http://www.countryoaksrv.com/Colin & Tracy

I think that for not many more $$ there is Coastl Georgia RV Resort on the same exit you use for Blyth Island SP.
Coastal GA has all pull thrus, roomy, neat, amenities, etc.
We stayed at Coastal GA in Feb and toured Blyth Island. While we like the camping type atmosphere of the State Park we thought that, for our rig, we'd have to choose wisely when picking a site. It is all wooded and some sites looked there would be no way we'd try them
Also on the same exit is Southern Retreat RV Park. I can't recommend that one (and have stayed there in the past).Larry KE4DMG
