I swapped out my ''P Rated" Hankook AT2 tires after 27000 miles. I went with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W in the Extra Load (XL) capacity. Very happy with them. I air them up to 40-42 psi cold. Great in the Rain, more planted and a good ride. Great sand traction also as I take my truck on the beach often.

BFG made a 285x55x20 D rated all terrain tire that would be worth a look. They were made for the Tundra 4x4 off road truck.

Have you considered running the tire at max pressure when towing? Those are a lower profile tire so I wonder if it is the tire flex or something else. 275*.55=151.25*.039= 5.9 inches of rubber height. as compared to my 275/65=6.9 inches. The trade off when running an LT is you have to run near 50 psi to get same capacity as the standard load P rated tires. This makes for a harsher ride.
