    F150 Tires

We want to replace the tires on our tow vehicle, a 2020 F-150. Currently it has Michelin LTX MS2 275/55/20. They ride great but feel soft when we are towing our TT. I want something with a higher load rating. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

Most anything with an E load rating, and personally I avoid the "offroad" rated tires as that type of tread feels squirmy to me. So I'd go with a good quality (e.g. Michelin) highway tire with an E rating.

For my Tundra I went with XL rated tires. Goodyear Eagle Sport, they are nice tires. As you are finding out there are not a lot of options with 275/55/20 tires.

You're right. Definitely slim pickins in this particular tire size.

Wow, Tire Rack lists all of three choices at 275/55/20, and none of them would be my preferred choice for towing. There are a lot more options at 275/65, so that's probably what I would do, if I wanted to keep the stock wheels. Then get the ECU adjusted to reflect the slightly increased tire diameter.

You could go to an 18" wheel and possibilities open up. My 2018 HDPP came with 18" wheels with a greater load capacity and load range C tires. Tire choices are still slim with LR-C, I replaced with Cooper ATS, but there are many choices including Michelin Defender in LR-E.

Hey Wicked ace, did you change from the load range C tires to E? I have a 2018 F150 HDPP with the original LT275/65R18 C tires, and it is time for a change. I'm curious how a 10-ply tire will ride vs the 6-ply in a HDPP truck.

No, I'm still on the original tires which at 27k miles are starting to show they need replacement soon.

I have over 41k on the OEM tires, and we are leaving in early May for a 3k+ mile RV trip, so even though there is some tread left I want to change tires. The C load rated OEMs have been great and I most likely will go with the same as replacements, but wondered about the ride difference with E load tires (about $300 more than the OEMs!).

I know in the Toyo and Nitto tire lineup, you can go with either a LT265/60/20 that’s slightly narrower or a LT285/55/20 that’s slightly wider, both about a half inch taller than the OEM size and both are offered in a Load Range E.
