To me, it comes down to Risk -V- Reward. When I was younger I would drive 70 MPH and 12 to 18 hours days to get to designation and enjoy the vacation time so Rewards were higher than Risk in my mind. Now I’m retired and don’t have the restriction of just a few days of vacation and switched from Risk is higher than the Rewards. Now I drive 65 and try to stay around 300 miles a day. We left Brownsville Texas on the 25th of March and we made it to Wichita KS on the 30th and I still have another 130 miles before I’m home.

Equipment is a big factor. Ability? I agree with you, but we all think we are good/safe/awesome drivers don't we?

How many folks actually drag their rig at 70 + mph. because of posted speed limit or “the traffic was moving that fast”?
Wow! I do sincerely apologize for ruffling a few feathers. The intent from the very beginning was to target the new to RVing folks and not the necessarily the seasoned crowd. Well seasoned motor vehicle operators have a responsibility to influence safe operational values with in a skill set. “And I’m back out”

My situation exactly. So far it has worked out. Hopefully it continues for the next 4 or 5 years until I can retire.
