Where Do You Connect Your 5th Wheel Break-Away Cable?
Subject says it all.
I connect mine to the lock I put on the hitch that keeps folks from "accidentally" pulling the pin that lets you disengage the king pin latch.
Where do you folks with 5th wheel RVs connect yours?Larry KE4DMG

Here is a picture of mine. I prefer it to be hooked to the truck, and not the hitch itself.

The handle on the hitch.
So long as it's on something attached to the truck it should be fine. These things aren't known to just fly off the back of the truck and if it hits the bed there is a good chance it will be at low speed and regardless of that stay on the bed as you stop.2019 Momentum 395

I attach mine to the hitch as well, but this thread got me thinking, what if the hitch were the component to fail and the hitch and trailer went as a unit? I know probably unlikely, but the break-away would not be engaged in that case. May need to find another location.

I hook mine to the factory cleat in the truck bed beside the electrical plug using a carbineer. As someone stated, if you have a hitch failure then hitch, trailer, and probably the tailgate are parting company with the truck and no trailer brakes. I know I'll win the lottery before that scenario ever happens but it sure can't hurt to have a little extra piece of mind.

Possible hitch failure is the exact reason for hooking the breakaway cable to the truck itself, vs the hitch.

Mine goes onto one of the tie-downs that's attached to the bed of the truck. I prefer to have it completely separate from the hitch head or hitch base, even if the chance of hitch failure is small. Plus it's an easy reach in terms of connecting/disconnecting as soon as I open the tailgate.
