Security lock for Trailer
Would welcome suggestions for 'Locking' the 5th wheel while in storage - Any thoughts on locks for the king pin, or wheel locks? What have you guys done to secure your 5th wheel while in storage - Due to availability i'm going to have to have it on a lot (behind a gate) but not in a dedicated slot with doors .....

We have a king pin lock. Just to make it a bit more difficult for some random person to hook up and drive away with the rig. Don't have wheel locks. We're in a locked storage facility, with card only access, cameras & lights. 10 foot high walls.
Another suggestion - remove the fuse for the leveling system on the circuit board. That'll stop them for a bit.Last edited by livinthelife; 03-23-2021 at 11:11 PM.

Commercial truckers use king-pin locks when leaving a trailer unsecured. We used them for years when dropping at terminals that were “dark” (not open/unsecured) all night. I ran one of those facilities for several years. I made a 30”-cube safe out of concrete and a drop safe that you would install in a concrete floor. I made up a set of forms, poured the concrete, then set the safe in the top. The regular driver had a key in his tractor and, if we had a new driver, we gave him the combo to the safe. We keep the spare key to the king-pin lock in the safe, nothing else.
One morning, I came to the terminal and saw that the “safe” was missing. Some yahoo had evidently used a winch and lifted it off the porch, probably putting it into the back of a pickup. I wish that I could have seen his face after he broke through all of that concrete, then cut the safe open, just to find a single key. Sometimes there is justice in life.
Needless to say, we purchased a new lock, with a different key, the same day. I built another “safe” and it stayed there for a number of years.Last edited by Richter; 03-23-2021 at 09:18 PM.

I got two of the locks at the Amazon link below. Why two? Well - I figured they could take the wheel off and put on the spare for one but with two it's a bit more difficult. They are easy to put on and a heck of a lot cheaper than the lock for the Andersen adapter on my kingpin.

One more:

Ours is similar to if not identical to that one; still working fine after four years. Well built; it would certainly slow down would-be thieves. The one @MoonShadow_1911 recommended looks even better.Mark - 2018 Solitude 310GK - 2017 F-350 diesel SRW short box - Pullrite Superglide hitch

I wasn't sure how prevalent the theft issue was, so I went a little overboard and got one of these:

It is as tough as it looks, no problems in two years.
