Looking for snowbird locations suggestions for next winter

Hi all: Looking for suggestions for a RV resort or campground to snowbird in for next winter, probably about 5 months worth. Would like to find something that doesn't get a lot of below freezing temperatures or excessive heat and humidity. Also would like something with activities and things to do and to see. I was going to go to Mission Texas but I have been watching temps there and they are already getting into the 90's and high humidity. We have been to Lake Havasu City for the last three years but want to see something different. Any suggestions would be appreciated and we are not ruling out any part of the country, just want to try something new. Thanks

Our 2nd year here in Port Aransas Texas, Mustang island, from dec through mar varies from 75 deg to 60 deg (Except for the freak cold snap that happened in Feb)
Yesterday was our warmest day approaching 83 deg (We leave home for MT on Sunday)
Humidity is something you live with down here, averaging about 60% in the winter, but when its 70 degs outside, its tolerable. It can get windy some weeks when the wind comes out of the North.

Port Aransas, Rockport and Fulton have a lot of RV parks. Typically you have to book 6 months to a year in advance for extended stays.

We winter in Pioneer RV park, just steps to the ocean and have met so many wonderful winter texans as well as people from MN, IA,KS,NE, MT,SD,ND. Many now friends for life!

i would second that. We wintered at Galveston but really anywhere on the south Texas gulf coast is great, if you like being near the ocean. Not as crowed as Fla and possibly cheaper monthly rates, can't attest to that, only what I read. Not near the Ocean, several places in south Texas is a good hang out for the winter, we have run into people heading to San Antonio, Kerrville area for the winter. Even the Austin area and south isn't bad for the winter. Of course minus the freak winter storm South Texas had. Heck friends of ours staying just south of Austin said it was cold but they never lost power or water. seems some of them faired better in south central Texas than we did on the gulf coast.

The monthly rates here at Pioneer for the Premium pull thru sites nearest the boardwalk to ocean and wildlife ponds vary from $895 in the summer to $695/month in the fall/winter. You have to pay for electricity.

They pick up garbage bags set out in front of your campsite every morning from 0730-0930 every morning and if you need propane, just set your bottle out by your driveway, they'll pick it up and fill it for you all day, then charge your monthly rate.

2 swimming pools, 1 hot tub, rec center, laundry mat (Another one is being built) Mail room, Amazon / UPS /Fed Ex deliveries.
This place holds 500 RVs. It's big, so most winter folks have golf carts either rented by the month or outright owned (Then stored for the summer when we return home)

In the winter months, I would venture to guess my wife (57) and I (60) are probably the youngest couple that fulltime it here in the winter.

We like southern California and southern Arizona. In Cal. we stay at Sunbeam Lake RV Resort near El Centro. In Arizona we have stayed in Yuma.

It has been 10 years since we stayed in Yuma. I suggest you look at www.campgroundreviews.com . Look at the restrictions of the various parks and the ratings. We always look at 3 stars or better. Depends on the size of your rig, your age ( some parks require 55+), what activities you like, and the price. We do go to Yuma when we are down south. Love the flea market and the Chinese restaurant on the west side of town (I think it is named Lin's).

In Texas you're going to get a few days of freezing temps. Usually we'll have several days where the mornings are in the low 20's and the afternoon highs are in the 50's-60's. Last year was a freak storm around valentines day that lasted a little over a week.

Sportsdad60 stays at one of our favorite parks in the coastal bend. We love Pioneer and besides the beach, you have all the activities of Corpus Christi, Rockport, Aransas Pass, and Rockport. So a good day trip visit the King Ranch.

A lot of winter Texans stay in the Kerrville-Fredericksburg area. The weather will have more cool days and nights but usually nothing very sever. From the Kerrville-Fredericksburg base you have Austin, San Antonio, Bandera, Uvalde, Natural Bridge Caverns, Cascade Caverns, Stonehenge II, Enchanted Rock, Cave Without a Name, Luckenbach, Comfort, Boerne, and Gruene (pronounced Green). Always something happening in the Texas Hill Country. Boerne and Gruene has great downtown market areas. Fredericksburg has trade days every third Fri-Sun each month except December.

The Texas Lower Coast has really gained popularity over the last few years. However in my opinion it doesn't offer the entertainment options of the Hill County or the Corpus Christi area.

If you decide to come, Welcome to Texas and remember our moto "If you don't like the weather wait a few minutes and It'll change".
