Need help replacing igniter on Atwood stove

    Morning all

I can’t figure out how to remove the igniter on my Atwood 3 Burner stove. I disconnected the ignition wire but can’t remove the white igniter

I am able to light the burner with a lighter so I know propane flow is not the issue.

    Any help is appreciated

    Bob

It could be that the little spark ignighter needs to be moved closer to the burner. If that's not the issue a call to Dometic (they now own Atwood) should get you the answers you need .

Why do you need to remove it? Is it not sparking? Are the other burners sparking/working? Maybe the battery?

All 3 burners work fine. The center burner will no longer ignite with the starter knob. To light it I need to use a lighter. Hence, it’s likely the starter has gone bad

It’s not a battery or propane issue

The igniter is inside the knob assembly. It’s just a wire with an electrode on the end going to each burner. Likely the electrode is touching metal somewhere keeping it from sparking at the burner.

Thanks John. I’ll try that this evening.

Then what is the white ceramic spring loaded part closest to the burner? It’s attached to the wiring you described and according to my parts manual, that is the igniter

It’s just a wire with a ceramic insulator on it. Technically it may be called the igniter, but functionally it’s just a wire.
