I am curious on where you got the 3940 payload number. I have been researching the Ford F350 the last week for maybe upgrading to a long bed, and the only ones with that actual payload or more, are the long beds with the 12400 GVWR. You may be able to get one with the 11500 GVWR and that payload, but it will be a XL. The ones I saw with the 11500 GVWR had 3400-3500 payload at the most.

That chart is Max Payload. My F350 CCSB shows a Max Payload also of 3940 on the 2020 chart BUT my actual payload is only 3484.

Remember, the numbers are for a truck that has nothing on it, but I have found it to be nice to see what is available(ish). If you take the numbers, and subtract around 3-400 pounds, you will be in the ballpark of what a mid range equip would be, without actually seeing the truck. And that is before whatever you put in it.

That’s really helpful. What is your truck’s curb weight? And is it a diesel? Looking at charts again I see more payload available with gas but I’m not sure.

Diesels weigh around 600-700 pounds more than a gas engine. That is why the payload is always better in a gas engine truck.
