You never said if your trailer rode level (or I missed it). There are hitches that lower the front of the trailer.

If the damage (rear stabilizers and spare tire) is already done just leave them off
Get a couple of the pyramid camco stabilizers to support the back when camping and throw the spare anywhere

Just an idea, might be a bit pricey but so is damaging your trailer. How about air bags. Air them up when pulling in or out. Then air down to normal ride height when traveling.
