Fresh water tank capacity upgrade 2400BH
Hello everyone!
Our 2400BH only has a 50 gallon capacity, which we struggle with when we're camping for more than a couple days in the middle of nowhere. I'm about to just get a polymer 55gal to keep in the truck, and transfer pump.
I am wondering if anyone has tried:
A - Purchasing/installing a larger tank for this camper model or similar (if even possible)
or
B - Purchased an auxiliary tank to store on the camper somehow
Any ideas, stories, suggestions, recommendations, etc., are all welcome.
TIA.

It would be nice to see under the trailer without the coroplast to know what is there
Likely room between a crossmember for another tank
Maybe a call to GD to see if a picture of tank placement is available
50 gallons isn’t very big. Maybe you can put a tank well secured in your pass through. Of course you lose storage
I saw a tank about 5 feet by 1.5 wide by 1 foot tall
Your truck bed is the easiest solution
Good luck
Need to boondock by a river. Lol

Boondock by a river indeed!
Yes I wish I could just look. I've found a few aux tanks online that mount under, but I have no idea where to put it or what would fit and I refuse to tear into that without knowing.
On the passthrough - that is where I was thinking of storing one. I found an 8" wide, 16" tall, and (depending on gallon size, 30 for this example) 60" long tank. That or the 27 gallon one at 48" long, would fit nicely I think in the passthrough behind the water hook up and battery disconnect, but that adds a lot of tongue weight and I'm not even sure the floor of that storage space is rated for. I have air bags on the truck, but I still need a weight distribution hitch.
I did find a nice little 12v pump that might work good for transferring from that tank right into the water hook up, the pump would mount in that storage area.
How big is your fresh tank on your 2400? Is it not the same?

It is the same as yours I believe I likely will never use it to be honest
We haven’t used it yet as we bought it in November here in Canada
We only stay in serviced parks

I would think the pass through would support it. It isn’t that much weight spread out over a large area
I assume it is sitting right on the frame but definitely a call to GD for advice before doing it would be the thing to do
Although for liability they may refuse to even answer
You show a 1 ton in your info. You must have at least a couple thousands spare pounds don’t you or is there something in the bed?

Oh ok. Well I hope you enjoy the camper either way.
I agree with that. I'll have to call GD then. I bought it from a local dealer brand new so they might even have suggestions as well.
Yes the truck won't have an issue, lots of room to go with that. And in reality, if we camp long enough to run out of water even with the aux tank, it would be easier to just have the one in the truck. That way I wouldn't have to haul the entire camper or take the aux tank out of that pass through just to fill it. I could also leave it at home and keep my storage space when we don't go for more than a night or two.2016 F350 6.7 Powerstroke SRW Platinum short bed

Yes definitely easier in the truck
We stay primarily at the national parks in Canada
Very large private sites
I don’t know but I think I personally would enjoy the “roughing it” lifestyle but the wife wouldn’t
I think it is more doable in the USA than Canada
We traded in a hybrid so our first night in this new one will be quite enjoyable I am sure
Hybrid mattresses are not comfy
Happy camping

Those sites sound nice, and I'm sure it's beautiful as well!
It's hit and miss on the roughing it part here. Where I'm at, it's hard to find good shade which makes it tougher in the dead of summer. But we picked this shorter trailer just for finding the harder spots.
I'm hoping you enjoy the mattress more than the hybrid...but I will say you might want to just go get a mattress topper pad right off the bat. Unless you prefer stiff mattresses, or unless the 2021 has a better mattress. Mine is stiff as a board, but still better than the floor of the enclosed trailer we used to camp in.
Happy camping, and thank you for your replies. I will post updates/pics if I get courageous enough to install an aux tank.2016 F350 6.7 Powerstroke SRW Platinum short bed

My 2010 Sabre 30BHDB had one 42 gallon fresh, two 42 Gallon grey, and two 42 gallon black.... Obviously a Shortage in the FW dept. We just used about a dozen 6 gallon jugs as needed. Depending on where we were going, we would fill them at home, or at a location close to camp.
Now with the momentum, we have 158 FW, 104 BW and 104 GW. Not as bad of a mismatch but we will still bring along some of the 6 gallon jugs in case we run short.2021 398M Full Body Paint 8k axles. LRH tires. Disc brakes.

158 FW!!!! Don't rub it in! Haha. Dang I'm going to have to look your camper online. Sounds awesome.
I actually do pack a 5 gal jug of water for outside use (filling dog bowl, rinsing pots/pans, etc). It helps as well.2016 F350 6.7 Powerstroke SRW Platinum short bed
