Did they remove the middle support for awning in 2019?

Our 2018 2500RL had a middle support brace that would support the awning when fully rolled in. However, looking at videos online I noticed the brace is missing on the 2019 2800BH models I am seeing. I always thought this brace must reduce wear and tear on such short notice long awning so I am curious why it was removed. Or was it just a sales gimic they used and got rid of?

Not sure if they are including them or not. We have a 2017 Reflection 367BHS purchased in August 2016 with a 21’ awning and was shipped with no middle brace. It developed a bow pretty quickly, however, no trouble with operation. I drive past our dealer on a regular basis and I noticed that the 2018 models of our unit sitting the lot had the middle brace. When we signed up for the 2017 Elkhart Rally I put in a service request and had it added on. I will say it makes a difference and I feel it is a necessity for awnings over a certain size. It is a simple add the techs only needed about 5 minutes to install with two screws and some butyl tape. Depending on the size of the awning on your new camper I would consider adding one if you discover that it will not come as standard equipment.

Still waiting on delivery but after reviewing more sales pictures of the 2019 2800BH up close I don't see it. I also then realized it is only 19' awning on this model so maybe they decided that was the cutoff. Seems like a cheap easy way to add a lot of support and not sure why they would nix it. I guess it's something I'll do myself if it doesn't come with it after you mentioning how easy it was. Think it would affect any structure warranty by drilling in to the side?

Can’t imagine it would void the structural warranty as there are already plenty of other things attached to the sides of these units on both the interior and exterior. Also we know that some units have left the factory with the brace installed. You could always contact GDRV customer service to make sure there will not be an issue. Good luck!

My 2019 Imagine 2670MK has one, but it is also 21' long. In witnessing the middle sag prior to complete roll up, probably a good preventative to call your dealer and get one, avoiding a hassle to fix/replace one of these guys. Our world of mobility adds a whole other dimension and meaning to "preventative maintenance", right?

My 2018 297RSTS had the lower bolt pull out. Currently at the dealer to get this and other minor things fixed.

We took delivery of our 2019 Reflection 28BH yesterday. It was built in early February and it has the center awning brace.

Yeah, sadly I can confirm the 2019 2800BH does not have the center support. Pretty annoying they dropped it off. Not sure I believe reducing the awning to 19' suddenly makes the support unnecessary. Looks like I'll be adding one
