    Slide out while traveling...

Need some real help here. We were on the interstate today on the way back from warranty work at our really wonderful dealer. However, we looked in the mirror, and the passenger side slide was coming open - about 6" Thankfully, there was an exit close, we pulled off and closed the slide with the switch. Went about 10 miles farther, the slide came out again, so we stopped and brought it back in and blocked it. When we got to our storage unit, the other slide was out about 2". Calls to Grand Design tomorrow morning. ANYONE ever had this happen?? Ideas?? It was scary...

I've seen that very thing reported on here previously. It has to be a problem with the hydraulic system...valving? Did the dealership work on the hydraulic system?

Ours was tipping out at the top when making a turn, centrifigal force pushing it out. It would re-seat when the vehicle straightened out. The factory techs worked on the structural aspects to keep it from tipping. Not sure if that helps if your whole slide is coming out and staying out.

    Hey Tom....how is it going?

I know this is off topic.....but your Michigan State football team (2-7) is having as bad a season as my Notre Dame (3-6) .... although ND has had some close losses. Hopefully we can beat Army this weekend ...to save Kelly's job. I have seen some media coverage referencing a call for his dismissal.

Did you get any Fall Rving in?

    Hope all is well!!

I've been dealing with that for over two years. At last years rally Lippert installed a new ram, didn't fix the problem. This year we had the other ram replaced. We just got back from the Nor Cal rally and going down it was still creeping out. Coming home it finally stayed closed like it should. I'm hoping it was air that finally bled itself out of the system.
Two weeks we are heading to Arizona for the winter, I hope all is good..

Here's an update.. we just got home this evening from Yuma. Going down, I had to pull over at least 4 or 5 times to suck the slide back in. I talked to Emily at Lippert while down there. She actually sent a Lippert technician that was in Phoenix down to check things out for me (about a 2 1/2 hour drive) After he checked it out, he determined there was air in the lines. He said to put a quart of anti stiction fluid in the hydraulic tank. Over 1100 miles towing home the slide actually stayed closed like it's supposed to do.. just want to say a big Thank You, to Emily Stahley at Lippert for all she does for Grand Design...

I am glad you got it figured out! I wonder why the anti stiction oil isn't added before delivery?
