    Boondocks with residential fridge

We are leaving for a 5 month trip in May. We would like to stop at a Harvest Host 5-6 nights during that time. The majority of our trip is in campgrounds with power. We have a residential fridge. We do have a generator. Do we run it all night? Although That would seem awfully rude if there are other campers present. Do we get solar panels? If so, how many would we need just to keep the fridge running? And how costly would that be? We are ok not having ac running. Thank you for your help.

Lithium batteries. Solar won’t help at night anyway and even two reg deep cycle batteries probably would be tight. I have 2 100ah lithium’s and I’ll go through about 80ah overnight with the fridge and misc other things. The generator then told them off the next morning

Solar is a good idea but you’ll need something to store the power to use overnight or during bad weather

Most HH sites don’t allow generators.

As was mentioned HHs more regularly prohibit generator use than do. Lithium batteries are definitely a solution, but an expensive one and it doesn't sound like your usage will justify cost long term. An array of standard golf cart batteries might be a good compromise for your need.

I agree with Keller. We also go through about 80ah to 100ah overnight with the fridge and misc other things.

We purchased 4 Aims 100A lithium batteries and 4 160w solar panels to help with us boondockin'. The good thing was; I got a 26% tax deduction on the solar installation.

Maybe you could get by with 2 lithium batteries or 4 6V deep cycle. The lithium batteries will charge faster if you put in the matching converter. KEN
