Tank Level Display Not Reading Correctly

Is there a way to calibrate the tank level display? When I fill the FW tank to overflow it only displays 2/3. I was thinking that Full would be more appropriate. Not sure that the other levels are correct. Is there a way to bump it up without relocating the sensor on the tank?

It could also be that the full sensor wire is broken. Each level marking has a wire attached on the outside of the tank, if that wire somehow broke off it will never read full. I had that happen on one of my gray tanks on my 399.

Foe your original question, no, i dont think they can be calibrated.

Thanks for that. All the manual says about it is that the probe may be fouled and to clean it using a tank of vinegar water. I'm under warranty but shop dates are at least a month into the future.

I'd agree with the probe getting dirty, but that will usually activate that level indicator and make it look like that tank is more full than it actually is. Also, since you're asking about the FW tank, i would highly doubt that the probe is dirty.

GD has been known to approve mobile techs to do warranty work, you dont always have to goto a dealer.

I just talked to my dealer and he said that all the trailers are only reading up to 2/3's. An absolutely ridiculous response. I told him about the possibility of a broken wire and he said they will look at it. Next available appointment is in June.

Call GD customer service (574)825-9679 and tell them that you can't get it into the dealer until June. They may approve a mobile tech to come look at it.....

Not surprised. That's the most ridiculous response they could have given you. Do any of your other tanks only read up to 2/3 or do they ever indicate full? Dont rule out the mobile tech or a different dealer.

Call Grand Design and advise them of the dealers "made up response" and request authorization for a mobile tech. Your dealer's answer would cause me to lose any trust I may have had in their ability to diagnose or correct the issue

I don't know that there's a way to recalibrate it, but I'll also point out that tank sensors are notorious for being wrong (most of the time). Sadly, it's something you learn to live with. You learn how full/empty your various tanks are with use.

These sensors are junk. Don't rely on them. Amazing with all the "Tech" we have today they cant get this right.
