No. Carrying gasoline isn’t at all safe

It is a very volatile liquid

Should be ok if it’s stored in an approved gasoline container and not kept in an enclosed area of the RV or tow vehicle.

Pretty much anyone who mows their grass does this routinely.

All the time when we packed our Honda gen with us. Since getting solar we don't need the gen enough to warrant packing it.
Think about all the ATV owners that go riding. They pack gas all the time. If you have a truck then stick it in something and strap them both to the truck tie down hooks.

Yes packing gas for things like atv s snow machines and yard equipment is a necessity but doesn’t make it safe
But to carry it for emergency only I wouldn’t

Even an approved container on the back of a truck will expand very rapidly in the summer heat

    YMMV

With the proper gas can and securely containing it in the back of a truck no issue. In trailer storage compartment - no
You don't list your truck or trailer - might want to create a signature block.

When I had a TT with my full size Bronco I got a Jerry can and mount and fit it on the front tung in front of the propane bottles. I have seen folks carry them on the rear of the trailer on a bumper mount. For my 5th wheel I built a compartment container box (open top 12" side walls) that I carry both gas and diesel in (approved containers). Its located at the rear of my truck bed on one side and everything is strapped down so it cant move. I carry my Honda generators on the other side in a similar box, except they are locked to the truck bed. I set it up to be able to run them in place.

I was sitting at a red light and there was a truck in front of us. We watched a container of gasoline break out in flames as we were just sitting there.. scary to see. As for safety for short transports it is likely ok but out in the blazing hot sun for several hours.. I wouldn't do it

Guess it falls into the if you feel safe or not category

I would never carry extra gas. In addition to being unsafe, it smells and is messy. It's the reason I have a dual fuel generator.

Yes I do if fill up stations are not on the route. So...about 75% of the time I travel. I prefer off the beaten path. If I'm cruising the main highways of North America...No.

A good point here is a gas can out in the sun, or even warm weather will cause the gas inside to vaporize and expand in a sealed container. Gasoline or even diesel containers aren't required to have a pressure relief like a propane tank.
