Electric water heater
Tried using the electric water heater and found the results disappointing. How is this working out for everyone else? Seems like it should do better than luke warm water.

My water is smoking hot. Have to mix in cold to shower and in the sink. Something must be going on.

My hot water is scalding, whether I run it on gas or electric.

Yes, the preset temp is scalding whether on gas or elec. Don't know why, this would never be allowed in a regular household WH. If only lukewarm on gas setting then indeed there's a mixing problem or the preset is faulty. This is not a user changeable feature.

I've noticed when heating cold water, after 30-45 minutes the water is warm but not hot. After 60-75 minutes, it's really hot! That's filling the tank with cold tap water. I imagine it won't take as long if the water is tepid to begin with but it takes longer on Electric than on gas to get the water to temp.

Like others have said, it sounds like either your bypass valves are not in the proper position or partially or your outside spray port is not fully closed and mixing the hot and cold.

I'll check that valve, it works fantastic on gas so we have just been using that.
