MORryde Reel easy wasn't....

Hi....so maybe this was the one in million, but we picked up our new Solitude at the dealer, and brought it back to the storage lot. Left the fridge running on battery/gas overnight to head out in the am.

Apparently, the new battery wasn't charged and my cord was all wound up on the new reel. You guessed it. Dead battery and no way to get my power cord out.

Hooked up to truck, but nothing.

Morryde documents say nothing about an override and Morryde put me through to voicemail. I couldn't find an override anywhere. We'll...it's a real pain to unroll that cord fighting the gears every step of the way.

I have an email in to them, but if there is no manual override...it's going in the trash. Does anyone know the answer?

The more technical it gets, the more frustrating when it doesn't work.

That's why my reel has my spare water hose on it.

Update...Morryde advised me that at some point in their manufacturing process (old v new???) they added a cam to address this issue.

At present, they can not advise on how to perform this procedure. Not a particularly well-thought-out product. They are supposed to get back to me again Monday. Good thing I'm not still waiting.

Your friend in these cases is quality jumper cables. Something every vehicle should have IMO. Set long enough to parallel a TV battery with the house battery and you're in business. No having an override is a miss IMO as well.

On my Shoreline reel after I wind the cord all the way I press the reverse for just a second and then I can pull the cord out manually; no need for power. Maybe MorRyde operates the same??? Someone should try that.

I had a shoreline reel on my Heartland. I'm going to miss that. I forgot how heavy these 50 amp power cables are. Unfortunately, MorRyde does not work the same way.
