209 375RES Left Turn signal blows fuse in tow vehicle.

    Hi all

The fuse for the left turn/stop light blows immediately when power is applied either by brakes, left turn or flashers.

I've done a continuity test on the left turn wire from the junction box under the pin box and it shows a short to ground. I disconnected the left tail light and the short remains.

I want to trace wires and check for pinches and lost insulation. Also, I'd like to check the splice where they wired in the 4 way trailer connection in the rear.

Any recommendations on how to access the wiring? I see where the trailer wire enters under the rig but I don't see anyway to inspect it without cutting floor. Is there a better way?

    Thank you

Drop the coroplast underbelly. Before doing that though, does your 2019 have a rear hitch and 4 flat connector? I'm not sure when GD ditched the rear bumper. If so, that 4 flat might be the culprit.

    Hi Rob & Niki
I appreciate the quick response. Yes I have the 4 pin flat connector which I am suspicious of as well. My problem is that I see where it enters underneath the rig. But there is no obvious way to access it. On this rig that area looks like the only way to access from the bottom would be to cut. Any suggestions on a better way to access the point where they connect those wires. I have 2 calls into GD but no response yet .

    Thank you

I’d look inside the junction box at the pin box first. Easier to get to.

What's immediately above where the wire goes up into the rig? Cabinet maybe? Generally, they don't have inaccessible runs for more than a few feet.

The point where the wires enter goes into an area that looks accessible from inside the rear storage. However, the only way I can see to access it would be to cut out a section of paneling. I dont see a way to remove the paneling gracefully. Maybe I'm missing something.

    Thank you for the reply

    Hi John and Kathy

I appreciate your help on this. I did check this connection. When I disconnect the left turn wire from the 7 pin I measure a short to ground. So I was able to determine the problem is within the rv somewhere. Id love to access the point where the 4 pin trailer wire is spliced in. It appears to be behind a piece of paneling in the rear storage. I dont see a way to get in there without cutting the paneling.

    Thank you for your help
