Slide Topper on GD 337 RLS

Does anyone know if you can add slide toppers to the 337RLS? Specifically the dining room slide that already has an awning? It doesn't appear that there would be enough room to add slide toppers to it but I was wondering if anyone has done it. One dealer says it's not possible and another dealer said that they are "pretty sure" they can do it.

Any pros/cons of adding slide toppers?

    Thanks

I have dealer installed toppers on all 3 slides. Our 303 also has an awning on the dinette slide. It can be done since the 337 & 303 are close to the same.

The space between the slide and the electric awning on that series of trailers is very small. Therefore the slide topper has to be one size, or six inches, short of what would be normal for that length of slide.

My dealer quoted $500 for each of my 4 slides--without different prices for length. I have found the slides available on Amazon.com for substantially less. And they are not at all difficult to install if you have a helper and two ladders.

I had the same problem at my dealer. I have since found a Solitude with a slide topper on that curb side slide, the key is to get a slide topper with that slim arm like in the above photos, I think Carefree Toppers are designed that way, my Dealer installed the toppers with the (big) square arms that would not work on that front slide. I haven't yet had one installed, but, I will soon.

I have a 2020 Reflection 337RLS and I have taken it to two different dealers now and neither one said that it is possible. The 2020 reflection has very thick and tall arms on the awning and it sits extremely high on the slide. Apparently there is not enough room to install the slide topper on it. If anyone has the newer 2020 and has found a way to make it work, please let me know. Thank you everyone for your photos and information. Last years model was a little different apparently. I'm hoping that someone here has found a way to do it.

Check with the dealer to see if a Slide Topper was an option from the factory. If it was, check your build sheet ( the one with all your Serial Numbers on it) to see what brand of Topper they have listed on that build sheet.

Additionally, I would check with a Dealer that installs the "CareFree" brand of Slide Toppers, that was the brand that was on my build sheet. The brand made by Lippert (I think Solara) has arms and mounting brackets that are too thick to fit in the limited space remaining after the awning has been installed.

You are correct that the new Solera awnings they use on the 2020 models have a very tall motor cover which blocks the area where the topper bracket needs to sit. My dealer did install a carefree slide topper on our 2020 303 and it works, but the issue we have is that we are not able to close the awning over the dinette slide out 100%. When closed the large cover hits the bracket for the topper and causes the awning to sit a little open. It is not my ideal preference for this, but once you get used to it it works. I wanted the topper so I am good with it. Also there are no issues driving as the awning is secure and tight. I would take pictures, but the camper just went into the dealer for a few minor things.

@Gainestr, you don't say where you are located, but here's a little input from a full-timer. There has been a lot of discussion on this and other forums (such as Escapees) about slide toppers. Opinions are split for those that spend any time from Texas west where high winds are more common. The toppers can be extremely noisy flapping in the wind and are occasionally ripped by high gusts. We were looking around a high-end coach rally and show in Wyoming this past spring on a windy day. The dealerships were desperately trying to keep the slide toppers on the coaches from being damaged - or damaging the coaches - while still being able to keep the slides out to show the units... and these were half million dollar diesel pushers. We spend time in both the east and the west. We don't have slide toppers on our 337 (and won't order them on our Solitude in a few months) and it's not been a real handicap. Others will have different opinions, but it's just something to think about.
