50A Extension Cord - How Long?

I am purchasing a 50A extension cord for our 2970RL. Our power cord connection point is mid trailer. The OEM power cord extends about 6 feet beyond the back of the TT. This summer we will be heading to some areas to the north and northeast and I know the hookup locations can be unpredictable and poorly placed in some of the parks we will be staying. I have looked and I am leaning towards a 15-foot extension cord. Primarily because 1) I think another 15 feet would be sufficient (of course until it's not), and 2) the increased cost, weight, and storage requirements for the longer ones is significant. Appreciate any feed back on what lengths you have have and what is really needed.

15 foot = $65.00 and 30 foot = $102 - is the extra $40 needed and not to mention the additional storage requirements and weight for a 30 foot.

For the most part in the NE, your challenge is State Parks where they put the pedestal at the head of the site (and often one pedestal serving two sites). In these cases, 25-foot on top of typical 30-foot shore cord gets it done.

I decided to keep my old 30 amp extension cord. I only have 1 a/c, so I figured there’s no point buying a new 50 amp. Plus most of our plugins are to a 30 amp pedestal anyways.

I carry an additional 30’ 50 amp cord as well as a 30 amp I had laying around. The 30 amp is handy to use with the 2200 watt generator.

Yeah, unless you really need 50A(100 really), get a 30 and adapter. Much less cost, weight and hassle...

I ordered this one on Amazon for my storeroom, the 50amp plug is at the very back of the 50 foot room, the stock 30ft cord was stretched too tight. The quality and apperance of this cord is every bit as good as the one that came with the trailer. I can pretty much reach any power pedestal now. https://www.amazon.com/Parkworld-692...8322885&sr=8-1

I bought a 15' 50A extension cord, and also carry my 30' 30A cord (left over from our first camper). I have only had to use the 15' once, the factory 30' might have worked alone, but I thought it was too tight.

My old 5th wheel had the 50amp connection in the back of the trailer. So when I found those utility posts at the front of the site it was a challenge, so I bought a 25' extension. That worked until I bought my Momentum 376. The 50 amp connection is about 1/3 of the way back from the hitch. I replaced the short little cable that came with the Mo with a 36' cable. It doesn't seem to bother my wife too much when she is loading up that extra long, extra heavy cable. The length of my new cable and position on the MO made it more flexible with the connections. So after 2 years of not using the extension I sold it at an RV rally sale.

About 2 weeks later we were at a park were the pedestal was off side and set back about 25 feet. I sure missed that cable....

I love having 50 amps, so a 30amp extension is not a consideration (I do have a 30amp adapter for when absolutely necessary). I have a 25 ft, 50 amp extension that I have used a handful of times in 4 seasons. It is heavy and bulky, and I don't need it often, But I am SO glad to have it when I do.

I keep it bound pretty tightly to facilitate storing and handling when not in use with these: https://www.amazon.com/Reusable-Cinc...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

With my previous 5th Wheel, it came with a 45 ft. 50A cable and I never needed more than that. Most times I needed much less. With my 311BHS it came with a 30 ft. cable so I bought a 15 ft. extension. If I can't reach with 45 ft. of cable, I'm moving the RV until I can.
