Water damage to molding in Bedroom along floor due to WH seal

Almost a year and we notice a little puddle of water in the bedroom along the floor.
After a closer look the floor to wall molding was deteriorated along the first foot from the water heater.
After a closer look around the WH I was able to trace it back to the WH seal around the exterior wall had gaps at all the corners.
We have been having a lot of severe rain here along the Gulf coast so the leak revealed itself.

Contacted GD and sent them pictures and requested a length of new molding to replace and they quickly got back to me and a piece of molding is on the way for me to repair.

This is our 1st warranty request small but simply handled. That's an plus for me.

Oh I did reseal the exterior and keeping an eye on it to make sure.
Still having lots of rain daily so that should give it a good test.

Keep an eye on the flooring for future damage from being at. Good that your filed a claim it will help if there is a problem in the area in the near future

Most certainly will, I'm waiting on the new molding to come and before removing water damaged piece and observe that wall to floor area.
If I recall the sub floor is marine grade or at least exterior grade which offers protection against water.
At this point I think is is only a minimum issue and hopefully only the molding has been damaged.
The area under the WH looked pretty decent as best as I could tell with a light and mirror. The very corner showed signs of water damage, but that is the framing of the wardrobe and a little harder wood than the molding material.
I plan to probe the area with a awl to determine if there is deeper damage.

Be aware that sealants are technically only warranted for 90 days.

Sealant is a maintenance item.
