Here's the thread started by Jim with the picture of Jim trying to crawl through the window along with Jim's creative narrative in post #1 and #8 - lol ! Ken - your post to this thread was #1 4. I think we were all laughing at this thread and yes it is a serious subject but humor is icing on the cake.

That is what we figured. And we wouldn’t be slowed down by laughter.

Thanks for the link! Good to know we aren’t the only crazy ones! Would love to see GD designers try climbing out that window. Author’s pick shows difficulty going feet first and demonstrates need for good upper body strength.

Thanks for reply. Our bedroom is teeny, no room for ladder and most require a substantial window sill to hold it while climbing down. Then there is set up time factor. Wouldn’t it be cool if there was one built in just below window inside that you just open, throw out window and it unrolls??

Yea - In the thread, Jim and at least one other person shared this idea of factory folks trying this.....your idea and theirs is a good one and would be hilarious to watch ! Jim's feedback on winning a 6 pack of beer or a 10 second penalty for leaving any body part was funny !

I bought a 5lb fire extinguisher and it is in the bottom cabinet right next to my side of the bed. I will fight my way to the door, but hope that will not ever be necessary ( for us or you ). KEN

    I found the old thread
    Fire Escape Window - Yikes

Sorry, but as a firefighter it terrifies me when I hear about people planning on using a fire extinguisher to fight their way to an exit. It isn’t the fire that kills people. It is the smoke. A fire extinguisher will do nothing to save you if it is to the point you need an extinguisher to get to the exit. If you are unable to use the emergency exit to get out then you need to look at a different floor plan. Sounds harsh but it is a fact. Have removed people from houses that died rooms away from the fire because of the smoke alone. Keep doors closed at night and be prepared to bail out a window.

You can always bump the picnic table up to the window area at night. I suppose it makes the drop not so far down....

I'm hoping that the smoke detector goes off and I am light on my feet. Blast whatever is smokin' on the way out the door.
