    Descale water heater

I am trying to descale my water heater and I have nautilus P1 system. Does anyone know which setting I would need the valves turned into such as city water, winterize etc.

I知 trying to simply put 6 gallons of a vinegar water mixture into the water heater. I知 just not sure what setting to put the panel on.

    Thanks

I just saw a PVC pipe L, that screws into the drain opening. With a funnel it let's you fill the heater directly.

I plan on making one ASAP.

This sounds like a pretty good idea. Please take some photos and post when you get it made. And let us know how it works out - using vinegar & such.

You cannot with the Nautilus just do the water heater. You can do the entire house plumbing system, but to focus on the water heater you need to add it to the heater. Can be done through the rear water connection or a standpipe in the drain port. Keep in mind the height of the standpipe has to be taller than the height of water in the water heater when full. Vinegar works, but de-scaling solution is way more efficient and doesn't leave the lingering of Vinegar.

Per the attached video, you CAN fill just the water heater with the vinegar/water solution using th P1 Nautilus system! I am hopeful to donthis in the next several weeks. https://youtu.be/0_c7D1ozjxM

So I think I have a few issues with that video......

First, the way I see it he put his vinegar solution into ALL the fixtures, not JUST the hot water heater. All he did on that Nautilus panel was include the water heater in the selection of where he siphoned the solution too.

Second, that sacrificial anode rod he replaced still had a good bit of life in it. It wasn't even 50% used.

I will refrain from going into my YouTube influencer rant.....

I still like the idea about building a PVC pipe system to pour a solution into the water heater directly.

I'm a couple of weeks from making mine.

What I remember seeing was about 6" out from the drain plug, then a 90 to 18" vertical. Pretty simple!

Unfortunately, that is not the result of what was done. You would be better to simply study behind your Nautilus for a bit and you will find you can bypass the water heater but not fill isolate it.
