I have had a trailer tire "go off like a bomb" twice. Sounded like one, and did enough damage to qualify as well.

I have had at least 3 or 4 "E" rated tires go off like a bomb. Have shredded Goodyears and many other brands of tires. There is something wrong with 10 ply tires. Just replaced my Westlake 14 ply "G" rated tires after 3 1/2 years and 30k+ miles. Bought Heartland 14 ply "G" tires. Have one short trip on them so far. Run air pressure at 105-110 psi.

We switched from the Westlakes over to GY Endurance....should've listened to the advice sooner - had a blowout. Our local tire store was able to match internet price on the tires.

I had two Westlakes China Bombs blow up on my little 8 foot cargo trailer several years ago. These were new tires that replaced a couple of 10 year old Carlisle. They came on new galvanized rims and I just swapped out the old rims and tires for the new, and put one of the old rim/tire sets on the trailer as a spare. Just carrying a couple of lawn mowers and well within the trailer's and tires' load rating both of the new Westies blew within a week. The first one blew and I put on the old spare, then the second blew a few days later and I put the second old tire back on. The Carlisles were maybe 10 years old.

I don't know whether all off brand tires from China are bad news, but I can say for sure that every time I've tried off brand tires they've had problems. Latest example: the Turkish "Waterfall" branded tires that got tossed in the garbage this fall. They were on the car for two years and vibrated from day one.

Just replaced our 4.5-year-old Westlakes due to sidewall cracking near the rim (dry-rot)
    with Carlyse 14 ply.

Goodyears are currently priced at 583.00 PER TIRE.

Got the Carlyse for 244.00 per tire.

All other tires...heartland etc. were out of stock.

    4400lb load and 81MPH rated.

    first trip...

    tomorrow.

Where were Goodyear Endurance tires over $500 per? Steep. Maybe Saluns are a better deal now. Still, I'd rather spend $2000 for a set of 4 tires than have a Chinese branded bomb blow my trailer. I've seen what a cheep chinese tire can do to a trailer. $2000 is cheap compared to a spoiled or delayed vacation, torn up floor, damaged wall, and the remains of a rim that ran down the road for 100 yards with nothing protecting it from the road.

You can get Inexpensive, Durable and Safe tires. You just can't get all three at once.

Sure you can, I ran a set of Sailun tires for over six years, with no issues and even for my triple axle toyhauler, they were a whole lot less than any Goodyear at the time. Excellent tires, long lasting, and lots of satisfied owners. The new ones seem to be having issues, but high prices do not guarantee high quality.

I never thought of Sailun as that inexpensive. NOT compared to Westies.
