    Bed Extender w/ 2017 Ford F-350 & Fifth Wheel

I want to install a bed extender but I don't want to have to remove it when I use my fifth wheel. I am wondering if the 7-way plug will be useable with the bed extender in place or if I will have to remove the extender when connecting my trailer.

I called the manufacturers and they didn't know. I also searched for photos of an installation with the connector shown but I couldn't find one.

Thank you in advance for your help.

This is JMO, but I would not want to haul a 5th wheel with the tailgate down. Too easy to poke some holes in the front of the trailer.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, and it would completely depend on where the plug is located as to whether it will be blocked by the tubing of the bed extender. But don't you also have a 7-pin plug-in down on the bumper?

I haven't had a bed extender but I believe the ones I've seen miss the 7 pin location. If you have a truck accessories place near by slip in and talk to them as they probably have installed the bed extenders and will have an idea. Or they may even be willing to order one and if it doesn't work our just take it back.

That's a good suggestion. I will do that.

Of course, I would not have the tailgate open. That was a stock photo from the manufacturer's website.

The 7-pin on the bumper might work, perhaps with an extension. I hadn't thought of that.

    Thank you.

If you didn't have the tailgate open and the bed extender flipped over, then depending on the hitch, it may not fit with the hitch in place. It would depend on the bed length, and hitch configuration.

It would fit with my Andersen hitch. The only issue is the 7-pin.
