And, just as an FYI, Costco fills all of the tires they sell with nitrogen. If you buy your tires there, they will rotate, balance, and top them off with nitrogen every 5000 miles. I have bought 3 sets of tires from them so far and they are professional, and do the job right. Of course, this may not apply to trailer tires, as I never checked to see if they sell them, but I will always go there for my cars and trucks.

The single and only advantage if there is one for nitrogen is that over time a tire will not lose pressure as fast as a tire filled with pump air
Too me this isn’t important as I check and adjust pressure all the time
Like I said it is a money maker for tire shops

Based on my limited experience I agree with you re: temperature swings and pressure. We put 5 to 6000 miles on the Westlakes. We did some pretty long days going from Northern NY to South Texas and drove in a lot of heat in Texas. I don't remember the Westlakes with nitrogen increasing more than 4 to 5 psi at any time. When we had the Goodyear's put on at the end of November the pressure changed by more than 10 psi in a 2 hour drive in 50 degree weather. We have a TPMS so green caps are not used.

My air compressor puts out 78% nitrogen, good enough for non-racing use!

I believe I saw in another post the Goodyear tires were running hotter
They are heavier and lack a ribbed tread which may add to the heat? I don’t know but I do know under laboratory tests Nitrogen and pump air expand and increase in temperature at the exact same rate
It is a myth that nitrogen runs cooler

We also have new Goodyear Endurance tires (same size and specs) on a 21BHE inflated to 60 PSI, and I have noticed no discernable difference in temperature and/or pressure changes while driving. I did experiment with lower pressures (down to 50 PSI) using the load/pressure table, but found the lower pressures resulted in greater increases in temperature and a corresponding increase in pressure. So I went back to 60 PSI, which is what the dealer recommended for the OEM Westlakes.
